The Center for Economic History of the Institute of Economic Sciences invites you to the conference:
One of the main reasons for Serbia's current and historic economic backwardness is the inadequate institutional framework. Due to changes of different economic systems in Serbia and the Balkans - from the laissez-faire approach that dominated the Western Hemisphere in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to the socialist period and back - the strategic importance of institutional change is all but neglected in terms of research output. Therefore, the analysis of institutional change and the synthesis of the lessons learned can contribute significantly to the development of the structure for future research on the economic history of Serbia/Yugoslavia. By crossing economic-historical approaches with modern social theories and techniques, our goal is to contribute to the integration of knowledge that can be useful for understanding the causes and dynamics of institutional changes, obstacles encountered and solutions that could help navigate them. The outcome of this national conference will be a thematic collection of papers that will present the results of the research delivered at the conference. We want these results to be an incentive for further collaboration among researchers in the country and abroad through joint research projects. We would also like to emphasize that the CEI conference is open to applications from senior scholars, as well as from PhD students, regardless of the year of study. The conference language is BCSM, although participants from other countries may choose to present their research in English.
The conference will be held online via the Zoom platform on 7 and 8 October 2021.
Please send completed applications to centarzaekonomskuistoriju@gmail.com by July 30, 2021. Announcements of accepted topics and presentations will be made no later than August 30, 2021, while invitations to submit completed papers will be sent after the conference.
