Solemn academy on the 55 years anniversary of the IES

On Wednesday, 4th December 2013, Institute of Economic Sciences organized Solemn Academy on the occassion of 55 years anniversary of the Institute. Academy was attended by more than 100 researchers, colleagues and former employees of the Institute. In the opening session audience was addressed by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, prof. Aleksandar Gajic, president of the IES Scientific Council, prof. Bozo Draskovic and Dean of the Belgrade Banking Academy, prof. Hasan Hanic. Academy was officially opened by the IES director, prof. Dejan Eric who briefly presented the results IES achieved in the previous period stressing the opportunities and threats the Institute will face in the years to come.   

In the second part of the Academy, visitors had the opportunity to see some fragments of the working environment at the IES during the 20 minutes documentary prepared for this purpose. Actors in the documentary were IES employees which presented current projects and activities of the Institute as well as their own vision on the future develoment of the organisation.  

In the following part, IES researchers, Sonja Djuricin Ma, Aleksandra Brankovic Ma, and Olivera Pantic Ma, presented the annual award named "Ana Jaško", dedicated to our prematurely deceased colleague, Ana Jaško. The award will be given for the best student scientific paper work in the field of economics and management.

Director of the IT center, Branko Lazarevic and IES researcher Mihajlo Djukic, presented the project called IES Documentary Center. Basic idea of the project was to create „knowledge base“ available to all interested reseachers in the field of economics with the purpose of knowledge sharing, echanging ides and improving the quality of the scientific work. Their presentation was followed by the speeches provided by the IES Deputy director for the Microeconomic Research and Consulting, prof. Ivan Stosic, Deputy director for the International Cooperation, prof. Srdjan Redzepagic and IES researcher Vladimir Simovic, PhD. They presented scientific results of the Institute in the previous period. For the first time, auditorium has been provided with the results of the research quality analysis of the regional academic and research institutions such as indicators based on number of scientific papers on WOS list, number of citations and many others.

In the final part of the Academy, IES received special award given by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. On behalf of the Institute, IES director prof. Dejan Eric received Plaque from Chamber representative, Ms Nermina Ljubovic, for the Special contributions within the processes of reforming and enhancing capacities of the Serbian economy.

Informal conversations continued later in a pleasant atmosphere, during the cocktail held on the premises of the Institute.
