IES researchers dr Aleksandra Bradić-Martinović, ma Aleksandar Zdravković with Sunčica Stefanović-Šestić, head of the Unit for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Data in Statistical Office of Serbia, and Marija Veličković, an analyst for social sciences in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, paid a working visit to UKDA, University of Essex, UK on 22 October 2013, within the realization of the FP7 project SERSCIDA.
Mrs. Hilary Beedham, Associate Director of Resources and Management Services and member of the SERSCIDA team welcomed the guests from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. After the introduction of Western Balkan teams, prof. Matthew Woollard, Director of UK Data Service and UK Data Archive, spoke about the governance of the data archive.
In addition, UK Data Service Staff gave a brief overview of operations regarding managing the data life cycle. Alison Weir, Head of International Strategy, Economic and Social Research Council - ESRC explained the funding structure for data services and the view of the UK Data landscape.
After the lunch break, Dr. Jonathan Burton, Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), the University of Essex, presented the benefits for a data producer and researcher. Mr. Tony Chapple, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), explained the benefits of a National Statistics Institution. The last presenter was Prof. Todd Landman, Executive Dean of Social Sciences, University of Essex, who spoke about how UKDA fits into faculty and benefits to the university and impact.
