The conference participants were senior representatives of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, as well as scientists and professors from Serbia. Honorary guest was the Russian Ambassador Aleksandar Vasiljevic Konuzin who had a keynote speech and during the conference actively participated in the discussions.

Participants of the conference in their presentations were primarily focused on the review of relations between Serbia and Russia, the problems and prospects of economic cooperation between the two countries, with special reference to the question, in which direction will the interstate relations proceed after the entry of Serbia into the EU. Among other things, considerable attention was devoted to Russia\'s role in preserving the territorial integrity of Serbia, as well as highlighting specific historical, cultural and spiritual closeness of the two nations.Slavenko Grgurevic, PhD spoke on the topic \"The Balkans and Serbia at the milestones of the roads, cultures and millennia.\"

On Friday, 6th April 2012, IES researchers Slavenko Grgurević, Ph.D. and Elena Baranenko, MA, attended the conference "Russia and Serbia in Europe (1991-2011)", which was held at the University Megatrend.
