ICPE seminar on \"The New Commercial Diplomacy: Open the Door to a Trade and Investment Driven Recovery\", took place from 16 to 17 November 2009 at its headquarters in Ljubljana in cooperation with FT Business and FDI Intelligence.

The opening of the first day of the New Commercial Seminar at the ICPE saw over 80 guests from 40 countries, including the United States, Iran, Thailand, Venezuela, Croatia, Indonesia, India, Hungary, Taiwan, Brazil, Japan, Nigeria, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Serbia and many others.

The opening address featured the announcement and presentation by the Slovenian MFA of the country\'s new Economic and Business policy in a speech  delivered on behalf of Minister Žbogar by Ambassador Dragan, Coordinator of Economic Diplomacy at the MFA.

Other speakers on the first day included Mr Petros Sourmelis, Head of the Market Access Unit at the European Commission, Mr Laurent Matile from the International Trade Center (WTO/UNCTAD) in Geneva, Ambassador V.S. Seshadri of India, Mr Takeshi Ito, Director General of Japan External Trade Organization in Vienna, Dr Davorin Kračun, Former Slovenian Foreign Minister and Deputy PM, Dr Ernest Petrič, Chairman of the International Law Commission and constitutional judge, Bill Burwell, Director of the United States Export Assistance Center and Mr Sergio Costa, General Manager of the Brazilian Agency for Export Promotion-APEX.
