EADI (European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes) members for 2009. was held on 29 and 30 October in Copenhagen - Denmark. After a few year’s break, Institute of Economic Sciences, (a member of EADI for many years), was presented by Director of IES, Prof. Dejan Erić, PhD.

After a welcome of the host representative - Nanni Hvidt, the Director of the Danish Institute for International Studies, Mrs Jean-Luc Maurer, EADI President  and Thomas Lawo, Executive Secretary spoke on the activities of EADI. They emphasized the importance of the organization, previous results and plans for the next period.

The lecture on \"Normative Power of the European Union\" was held by Prof. Dr Ian Manners, Roskilde - Professor of University and a longtime associate of the European Commission. The first day of the gathering ended by giving EADI awards and introduction of participants.

The second day of the meeting of EADI directors started with the round table \"The Future of Development Studies in the Light of Crises\". The moderator was Lars Engberg, PhD from Danish Institute for International Studies – DIIS. The following issues were discussed: poverty, climate changes, accelerated urbanization, resources management, and the role of development studies and scientific and research institutions in finding the solutions for these new challenges. The special attention was given to the cooperation between researchers and institutes in the field of natural and social sciences along with the affirmation of interdisciplinary research approaches.

During the conference, Professor Dejan Erić, IES Director had a number of bilateral meetings with EADI officials and institutes’ directors. They exchanged the experiences in the field of research, institutes’ management, established business contacts and talked about further cooperation.

The conference ended by three workshops on the following topics:

The conclusions of the meeting emphasized that EADI will continue to make efforts to strengthen the European Institutes network dealing with various aspects of international development research. In the coming period, the EADI strategy will be the strengthening of cooperation between members, sharing research results and communication without boundaries for the benefit of all members. The next meeting of directors is announced for 2010, but the place of meeting has not still been defined.
