Mr. Radovan Jelašić, was the first speaker, talking about banking sector in global financial crisis and issues related to majority foreign owned banks in South East Europe?.

The second lecturer today was Mr. Will Bartlett, Senior Research Fellow at the London School of Economics, who spoke about issue and the economic effects of the crisis on the Western Balkans.

Prof. Nikola Fabris, Lead Economist at the Central Bank of Montenegro and professor at the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade University held final lectures today, talking about monetary policy challenges in the future period.

The second day of the Summer School of Economics 2012

During the second day of the Summer School the first two lectures were given by Ms. Barbara Kolm from the F.A. von Hayek Institute, Vienna, Austria. Ms. Kolm briefly presented Austrian School of Economics and its key principles. In the second lecture, Prof. Kolm had remarkable presentation about history of crisis in Eurozone giving arguments why European Union leaders chosen the wrong way to combat crisis.

The third lecture was given by Mr. Will Bartlett from the London School of Economics, UK. He talked about austerity policies and economic growth stimulation in the Eurozone focusing on potential sources for economic growth in period of economic crisis.

The final lecture was held by prof. Mihail Arandarenko, from the Faculty of Economics, Belgrade. He talked about social policy, labour market policy and unemployment problems in Serbia comparing to the European Union members.

The third day of Summer School of Economics 2012

Mr. Matthias Schaefer held first two lectures today. He presented to the participants the basic principles of social market economy. In a very vivid discussion with participants, Mr. Schaefer gave his opinion about success of German economic model trying to stress main advantages of social market economy comparing to the concept of neoliberal model applied in the Anglo-Saxon countries.

In the afternoon programme, the presentations are held by Mr. Loup Brefort, head of the World Bank Office in Serbia and Mr. Zoran Grubisic, associate professor at the Belgrade Banking Academy. Mr. Brefort spoke about World Bank goals and activities in Serbia sharing the ideas concerning the future potentials growth in the context of global crisis. Prof. Grubisic gave his own opinion about Eurozone perspectives trying to give answers on the main two questions: Should monetary policy be made by rule or by discretion? and Is European Monetary Union an optimum currency area??

Fourth day of the Summer School of Economics 2012

The first lecture today was held by Mr. Milan Parivodic, Chairman of Forinvest company and Former Minister of International Economic Relations in the Government of the Republic of Serbia. He spoke about the social market model and possibilities for its applying in Serbia.

Afterwards, the lecture was given by Mr. Dejan Šoškić, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia. Mr. Šoškić spoke about Legal Framework for National Bank of Serbia activities. He discussed with the participants current issues of the Serbian economy today such as current account deficit, inflation, exchange rate and many others.

Mr. Dragan Santovac, Deputy President of the Executive Board in Komercijalna Banka held the third lecture today titled Serbian Banking Sector in Period of Crisis. Mr. Santovac briefly explained what were the major problems that hit banking sector in the crisis period and his view on future banking sector perspectives.

The last lecturer today was Mr. Lazar Šestović from the World Bank country office in Serbia. In a very vivid discussion with participants he shared the ideas about possibilities for future development in Serbia and other Western Balkan countries.

The last day of the Summer School of Economics 2012

The first lecture today was given by Mr. Bogdan Lissovolik, Resident Representative of the IMF in Serbia. He talked about Global economic outlook with special attention on Serbia and the region.

Afterwards, Mrs Lea Markstajn Stojanovic from AXA Insurance company held lecture about Bancassurance development perspectives in Serbia.

Snezana Vilaret, Head of Current Macroeconomic Analysis Division at National Bank of Serbia held the third lecture about macroeconomic development of Serbia.

The last lecture was held by Zoran Cirovic, Director of Serbian Securities commission. He discussed the issue of financial crisis and Serbian financial market in the context of newly adopted regulative.

At the end of this year\'s Summer School of Economics Aleksandra Bradic-Martinovic and the Organisation commetee presented the students with the certificates.

XV Jubilee Summer School of Economics opened

On 16 July 2012, the Summer School of Economics 2012, hosted by the Institute of Economic Sciences, was officially opened by Prof. Dejan Erić, director of the Institute of Economic Sciences.

The official ceremony was attended by special guests: Mr Adriano Martins, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Serbia, Mr Radovan Jelašić, Erste Banke Hungary Chairman, Ms Biljana Dakić Đorđević, German Marshal Fund program officer and Mr Henri Bohnet, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung offices in Serbia and Montenegro.
