  • The BIMUN 2007 project shall be implemented in four phases: preparatory activities, the BIMUN conference, follow-up activities and the BIMUN Plus Forum. The organizer of BIMUN is the United Nations Association of Serbia along with its Project Team, comprised of students and postgraduates of social studies.

    The participants of the conference shall be social studies students with emphasis on representatives from Southeastern European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. Participants from other countries will include representatives of Austria, Canada, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Russian Federation, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America etc. In total, BIMUN will host approximately 160 participants from over 20 countries.

    BIMUN, besides promoting the work of the UN and educating on the principles of modeling, aims also at connecting young people from the Southeastern European countries. The participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences and ideas on the above mentioned topics, while learning in practice about the basic democratic principles, such as: peaceful resolution of disputes, dialogue, compromise, tolerance, team work and multiculturalism. In short, BIMUN 2007 will be a conference focusing on diplomatic debate, but also an opportunity for connecting young leaders for common future projects.

    The conference will be held in English while the participants will represent a chosen (or delegated) country, different from their own, in mixed teams of two delegates each. Delegations will be formed by the BIMUN Organizing Committee and participants are strongly encouraged to get in contact with their team mates as soon as they get the final list of teams, in order to prepare for the debate. The best participants in each committee will receive awards and an opportunity to participate in the BIMUN Plus Forum.

    BIMN 2007

    BIMUN - Belgrade International Model UN 2007 is an international youth conference simulating the sessions of the following United Nation'' bodies:

    • THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL: "The Risk of Nuclear Proliferation: Situation in Iran"
    • GENERAL ASSEMBLY - VI Committee: "Strengthening of the role of the UN-Reform of the Security Council"
    • HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL: "The Rights of National Minorities in Southeastern Europe"
