BIMUN-Belgrade International Model UN 2008 is an international youth conference, the fifth in a row, simulating the work of UN bodies on the following topics:
BIMUN is organized by the United Nations Association of Serbia. The project team was made up of successful students of humanities best participants from previous BIMUN conferences. “BIMUN 2008” Project will be accomplished in four phases: preparatory activities, BIMUN conference, Follow-up activities and the “BIMUN Plus” project (policy paper).
Participants of the conference will be approximately 160 (130 delegates and 30 members of the student team and volunteers) coming from over 20 countries.
The main goal of the BIMUN Project is to have students practically get familiar with the mechanism of international cooperation and basic diplomatic approach: negotiations, peaceful conflict solutions, dialogue, compromise, and consensus and to understand the importance of the UN's role in the contemporary world. The participants will work in teams of two delegates, presenting their chosen country, which is different from theirs.
In the Institute of Economic Sciences, the simulation of the UN Security Council session will take place on the topic “The Risk of Nuclear Proliferation: Situation in Iran".
