LIBRARY AND DOCUMENTATION  

 

The IEN library and documentation resources is composed of Institute's own library (LIES), UN Information and Documentation Centre (UNIDC)and the Library of Belgrade Banking Academy (BBA) under the umbrella of the same unit - LUNIC. Structured on the lines of public referency library, LUNIC is very important source for researchers, scholars, visiting fellows as well as students from the universities and colleges. LUNIC stock encompasses books, monographs and proceedings, periodicals, documentation and working papers so it could be ranked as valuable specialized library unit in Serbia in the field of economy and related disciplines.

After the restoring of the Institute's premises and re-organization of the libraries, the Library of the BBA, with more than 1000 books has been put under the one unit.

The IEN and UN library are open to the public. The annual fee is 1 500,00 dinars. The Library of the BBA can only be used by its students.

The Library of the Institute of Economic Sciences has started with the implementation of COBISS (Co-operative Online Bibliographic System and Services) - Digital library system.

COBISS represents an organizational model of joining libraries into a uniform library information system with shared cataloguing; the COBIB shared bibliographic database, i.e. union catalogue, and local bibliographic databases of participating libraries, the COLIB database on libraries, the CONOR authority database, and with a number of other functions of the so-called virtual library. Functioning of the system is preconditioned by:

Standardized and shared processing of library materials and a uniform management of catalogues;

Adequately skilled cataloguer;

Linking of libraries via computer and communications network.
