COST is an intergovernmental framework for European cooperation in science and technology that allows nationally-funded research to be coordinated at the European level. The COST program financially supports activities related to the organization of conferences, seminars, working group meetings, meetings of the steering committees of individual projects of this program, participation in training, and summer schools, as well as the costs of short scientific visits.

From June 2020, the Institute of Economic Sciences will participate as a partner organization in the COST Action CA19130 entitled "Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance - Towards a transparent financial industry". The main goal of the action is to explore opportunities to improve the transparency of processes based on artificial intelligence in the field of Fintech, research transparent versus so-called black-box models to support decision-making in the financial sector and transparency of investment products for clients. Thanks to an interdisciplinary approach, the Action seeks to bridge the gap between academia, industry and the public sector through innovation-focused research.
