Research and consulting activities

 

research1The research and consulting activities conducted by IEN are both on permanent and ad-hoc contractual bases but of an applied scope in general. This implies the Institute's professional staff approach in research and consulting activities by examining the theoretical and methodological background available from various scientific disciplines for their explanatory value as well as applicability suitable for the case under review. Research and consulting engagement aim is based not only to analyse problems but propose approaches to solving them effectively and efficiently from the point of the client view or various parties concerned (governments, international organizations, regional institutions, associations, interesting/preasure groups, corporate management, civil society, etc). The practical orientation of the Institute's research and consulting work is also evident from the efforts made by it to direct conflicting interests towards both professional and «real-life» solutions as well as fair and constructive compromises, instead of evading the issue by proposing «solutions» that only appear to be clear-cut.

 

The IEN research and consulting activities usually take the following forms:research3

  • macro-projects and research studies addressed on current or foreseeable issues in development policy and international cooperation for governments and ministries, international organizations and institutions, national or international commissions and relevant authorities, business associations, corporations and company departments.
  • reports, brief analyses and expertises for wide variety of clients and partnering institutions covering current issues and topics in economic and social development, world economy and Yugoslav foreign economic relations and strategy, business and entrepreneurship issues.
  • position/background papers on fundamental and current
    economic and development policy and strategy based on either Institute's or
    professional staff research incentives.
  • training and workshop programmes/courses in marketing, management and international business - permanent or ad hoc.
  • panel, round/table and promotional activities dedicated to current topics.
