First High-Level International Symposium "Future Challenges of Public Sector Enterprises"

To celebrate its 35 years of successful work, the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises - ICPE organized the first high-level international symposium "Future Challenges of Public Sector Enterprises".

The current issues of development of this sector of the economy, problems and directions for future development were discussed at the symposium. The conference was opened by Dr. Stefan Bogdan Šalej, Director of ICPE and Dr. Frankci Križanič, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Slovenia. This extraordinary gathering was attended by delegations of the Institute - Dejan Erić, Srdjan Redžepagic, Ivan Stošić, Jovan Zubović, Aleksandar Zdravković and Draško Nikolić.

His Excellency Rubens Ricupero - a former Minister of Finance of Brazil and DG UNCTAD, Peter Harrold - World Bank, Country Director, Central Europe and Baltic countires, Hans Christiansen, OECD Senior Economicst, Steering Group on Corporate Governance, Prof. Nevenka Hrovatin - Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, Dr. Anil Chardy Itereah - Program Coordinator, Indian Institute of Public Administration and others took part in discussion during the first panel entitled "The Role of Public Sector Enterprises in Economic Development".

The second panel was dedicated to dialogue between the public and the private sector and raising the level of social responsibility, while the third panel was dedicated to case studies and management practices of public companies in different countries. As part of this panel a very remarkable lecture was held by the Director of the Institute Prof. Dr. Dejan Erić on the specificity of management of public enterprises in Serbia.

IES delegation took an opportunity during the seminar for the maintenance of existing and establish new business contacts.
