Started Summer School of Economics 2010

On 12 July 2010, the Summer School of Economics 2010, hosted by the Institute of Economic Sciences, was officially opened. The opening ceremony was attended by special guests, including Mr. Mlađan Dinkić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development, Mr. Loup Brefort, the World Bank's Country manager, Mr. Milko Štimac, President of the Securities' Commission, Mr. James Stein, Acting director of the USAID's mission to Serbia, Mr. Saša Hadžiahmetović from Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and Mr. Duško Vasiljević from the World Bank.

Prof Dejan Erić, director of the Institute of Economic Sciences, gave an introductory speech, welcoming the students and the guests, and presenting a brief overview of the history and activities of the Institute of Economic Sciences.
Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Mlađan Dinkić, was the first speaker, talking about the economic policy of the Serbian government in the wake of the global crises.

The second lecturer today was dr Barbara Kolm, director of the F.A. von Hayek Institute from Vienna, who spoke about concerns due to the public debt raising in Europe.
Prof Branko Milanović, Lead economist of the World Bank and professor at the University of Maryland, gave the final lecture today, talking about theories of inequality among countries and empirical results.
