Visit of Zvonko Brnjas, Vice Dean of BBA and Dubravka Kamesnicanin, SAA & BBA Master Study Program Administrator
Visit period: July 4-11, 2009
Activities: Exchanging the experiences regarding master study programs carried out at SAA
From June 4 to 11 of June, 2009, as scheduled by TEMPUS project, Zvonko Brnjas Vice Dean of BBA and Dubravka Kamesnicanin visited School of Management in Turin. The goal of that visit was to get better knowledge on master study programs: their status within the higher education framework in Italy, the way they are organized and carrying out on SAA, the cooperation of SAA with the European and other international partners, and other relevant questions.
Mr. Ricardo Magarini, Coordinator of Three Master Study Programs and Professor Maria Luiss Cavallo, MBA Coordinator and Tutor – Mr. Magarini and Ms. Cavallo have explained to the guests from BBA the framework of Italian higher education and the status of master studies. It was explained that, in Italy, the Master of the first level is the most common avenue for obtaining the higher education degree which is opening windows of opportunities to the students into the business career. The students who opt for this alternative could continue with MBA studies which represent the top business degree diploma. On the other hand, the students, who are interested more in academic career, usually are selecting specialization studies which enable them to continue with doctoral studies. There is also possibility to choose for master study program of second degree, but this option is rarely selected by Italian students, since it do not give clear direction for future career.
Ms. Cristina Ragionieri, Coordinator of the SAA International Study Programs – the main topic of discussion at the meeting with Ms Ragionieri was the organization of the SAA international study programs, especially the cooperation between SAA and American student exchange international programs. The American program is enabling American student to finish a semester in Europe. They have the programs which are independent from SAA program in terms of study programs, finance and management, but they are enabling the American and Italian students to interchange at these programs at specific study subjects.
